Euphoria

Euphoria is characterized by an exceptional sense of happiness, well-being, and pleasure, combined with invigorated energy and optimistic feelings. Euphoria can occur to psychological stimuli, such as attaining an important objective, or to neurochemical interactions caused by exercises, some activities, and/or substances. Euphoria results from the stimulation of the brain’s reward systems, especially those that involve dopamine. Euphoria, especially over the top, and for long, is a sign of some psychological disorder, such as the manic phase of bipolar disorder. In euphoria’s most positive and healthy manifestations, euphoria stimulates effective work, relationship building, and social engagement. Euphoria is, and frequently, a culminating psychological aspect, which is characterized by feelings of unity, creativity, and transcendence. Euphoria, and such related psychological constructs allow psychologists to differentiate positive emotional surges from emotional dysregulation that might manifest, psychological disorder.
