Sociocultural-factors

Sociocultural factors are elements within society and the culture that are able to affect the psyche and how a person develops and behaviors. Norms and traditions, systems of education, the family, economic standing, religion, and the historical context of a people are all critical components. Factors of this nature affect their thinking, the way they hold conversations, the manner in which they display their feelings, and how they perceive the world. For instance, how a culture values mental health, gender, and even the approach to more authoritarian individuals may tell a lot. Psychologists have always emphasized the point that a behavior is not fully appreciated until the sociocultural context is explored. That is the case in sociocultural theory which is concerned with the sociocultural context of a behavior and how social contact and culture are integrated in the learning and thinking process. Inclusion of these factors is important in constructing inclusive research, education, and clinical work.
