Neuron

A neuron is a nerve cell which is configured to receive, interpret, and transmit information along with other cells through electrical and chemical impulses. Every neuron has a cell body, an axon which sends messages to other neurons, muscles, or glands and one or more branching dendrites. It is a complex and interconnected web of networks and communication paths that enable the seamless flow of thoughts and experiences that define cognition. It is the activity and thinking at the neuron and synapse levels which clarifies the physiology and psychology of an organism. It is the flow of impulses along neural pathways that brings about memory and learning, along with changes within the brain which give rise to developmental and psychotic changes. It is the combination of psychology and neuroscience that provides to the greatest extent an explanation of human wisdom and behavior.
