Emotionality is defined as the magnitude, rate, and reactivity of a response from a psychological standpoint. It is an integral quality of individual temperament and personality which affects the whole range of a person’s feelings and their expression. High emotionality results in very strong feelings and actions, while low emotionality results in a state of calmness or a very restrained emotional condition. In psychology, emotionality is studied in relation to emotional regulation, empathy, self-control, and overall mental health. Emotionality has a profound impact on one’s interpersonal relationships, decision-making, and mental fortitude. For example, high emotionality is exhibited by a person whose excitement or anger manifests in a very short time interval.
