Gender-bias

In psychology, gender bias is the attitude of preference towards one gender over another in research, diagnosis, or societal expectations. It may manifest in the design of primary research, data interpretation, or the culture that frames the data. Psychologists have historically mainstreamed theories of psychology without adequately incorporating feminine perspectives. Understanding gender bias is crucial for psychologists in enhancing the inclusivity of their research and practices. Towards this end, gender-sensitive approaches are necessary for the research outcomes to reflect the experiences of all genders. For instance, the very first intelligence tests were designed primarily with male norms in mind, reflecting the problematic nature of gender bias in psychological assessment.
