Cue

A cue in psychology is defined as an internal or an external stimulus which elicits a particular behavior, recollection, or reaction. Cues are vital to the processes of learning, conditioning, and the recollection of memories. Some of the constituent parts of a cue which evokes a particular reaction are a sensory stimulus, a piece of the ecosystem, or an emotional trigger. The study of cueing systems enables psychologists to provide comprehensive explanations of some habits, phobias, and various behavioral frameworks. In behavioral therapy, the revision of cues enables clients to alter particular stimuli so that they can eliminate unwanted behaviors. For instance, the olfactory stimulus of coffee signals the individual to commence a particular morning routine.
